The Role:


This position is specifically designed to meet the training requirements, over three years, of doctors commencing physician training with the RACP in 2023. We are looking for enthusiastic HMO2 Medical (BPT1) to join our Medical Workforce, pursue physician training and serve our wonderful, diverse community.

The consortium has a long tradition of providing an excellent physician training program with excellent exam results.


Northern Health offers a wide range of rotations to meet all your Physician Training requirements over the three-year program. We have a dynamic, enthusiastic and dedicated group of physicians keen to teach supported by Directors of Physician Education (DPEs) who have developed a tailored tutorial program for BPTs. Preparation for Physician Exams begins in BPT2, with a shared education program with shared resources across Northern Health and Austin Health, including all tutorials, mock exams, specialty training days etc. It’s an enormously rewarding training program!


Medical positions include rotations in the following areas:


  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Oncology
  • Respiratory
  • Gastroenterology
  • Neurology
  • Nephrology
  • Haematology
  • Palliative Care
  • Observation and Assessment Unit
  • Geriatric Medicine
  • General Medicine (Echuca)

To be successful in this role you will have:


  • Commitment to Northern Health’s Values
  • A commitment to patient centred care
  • A commitment to your ongoing education
  • Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Must have satisfactorily completed intern year in Australia
  • Must be enrolled in PMCV match program
  • Current National Police and Working with Children History Check
  • The Staff Immunisation Questionnaire must be completed by all new employees as part of the mandatory on-boarding process. New employees are not permitted to undertake any activity that requires patient contact prior to clearance by the Staff Immunisation Nurses; this also includes evidence of having the Flu vaccination on a yearly basis. New employees with contra-indications to vaccinations or who decline vaccination are required to attend a face to face consultation with the Immunisation Nurses for appropriate documentation of their contraindications or declination. This must be completed PRIOR to commencing any work with Northern Health.
