Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking an A07 Project Director to work with the Divisions budget management, reporting and analysis functions across the entire Departments infrastructure program, as well as records management and other business services functions.

The Program Director reports to the Senior Director, Project Delivery will have sound understanding of program or project management practises and methodologies. Be able to analyse data, problem solve, produce high quality written responses that are tailored for the purpose and audience. Carry out project budget, performance management reporting, analysis and profiling. Have a highly developed consultation, negotiation and interpersonal skills and able to demonstrate stakeholder engagement experience including relationship building, networking and a proficiency in oral and written communication and organisational skills.


As the Program Director you will be required to;

  • Lead and manage one or more medium to large scale or risk projects ensuring they are completed within the Divisions project management methodology (project lifecycle).
  • Effectively manage the engagement and performance of project consultants and contractors to enable the delivery of an on time, on budget quality project.
  • Ensure project outcomes are achieved and project management capability is maintained by leading a multi-disciplinary team within a complex health environment.
  • Proactively lead and manage project management activities, in line with the Divisions project management methodology (project lifecycle), by developing formal project plans, formal governance projects, budgets, supporting documentation, issues and risk management, records and registers.
  • Provide effective budgetary, financial, and technical planning in order to enable the smooth operation of the projects.
  • Manage projects by monitoring and reporting on project related trends and performance against project plans and budgets and identify risks to the project and coordinate and lead discussions with key stakeholder on critical issues and risks.
  • Manage and maintain effective key stakeholder relationships and networks to ensure that the project achieves the identified benefits and objectives and team members and ensure stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project life cycle.
  • Provide advice and strategic input to project deliverables, to ensure they meet quality standards and comply with Divisions strategies and policies.
  • Ensure projects are managed in accordance with the best practice guidelines and Divisions formal project management (PM) approach to ensure consistent and quality outcomes are achieved.
  • Enable informed decision making on project issues by developing timely and relevant written submissions, briefs, presentations and information papers for project stakeholders on project, financial and human resource matters.
  • Implement and maintain adequate policy, processes, systems and internal control to ensure effective and efficient support for the coordination and delivery of the Program.

What you need to succeed:

While there are no mandatory qualifications, the ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate the following qualities, skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated high level knowledge of project and program management methodologies in addition to demonstrated high level experience in leading and designing medium to large scale complex projects within the Divisions infrastructure service delivery environment (or similar) to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level experience in preparing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on complex program/project budgets and knowledge of financial pressures and constraints impacting on delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage consultants, contractors and multi-disciplinary project teams for high performance in line with quality human and financial resource management practices with particular reference to employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to use high level communication, interpersonal, consultation, partnership and negotiation skills to create a strong client focus, influence the decisions, action or perceptions of stakeholders and achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills including the proven capacity to initiate appropriate strategic and operational responses and corrective and preventative solutions to key issues affecting the project/s.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers and respond under direction to changes in stakeholder needs and expectations with the ability to effectively manage time and work priorities to achieve specified outcomes within tight timeframes and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify, collect, collate, analyse and present data in a manner that contributes to sound decision making.
  • Confidently presents messages in a clear and concise manner in both oral and written communication including the ability to utilise effective interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills.
