This is an exciting opportunity to join the Allied Health team at Sydney Children's Hospital. The primary function of this role is to support the Speech Pathology, Social Work and Allied Health education departments. This includes liaising and supporting families and children, supporting the development of intervention and service resources and supporting the training needs of Allied Health Staff. What you'll be doing
The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, under the direction and supervision of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, child life therapists and social workers.
The AHA will provide assistance to the AHPs in helping to facilitate various clinical interventions designed to provide timely access to services & intervention including with provisions of equipment.
Completion of 12 or more months' service as an Allied Health Assistant Level 1 and/or Certificate III or IV Allied Health Assistant Qualifications or equivalent professional qualifications or working towards qualification.
Experience working with children and families. Experience working with people with disability and/or in a hospital or healthcare environment.
Proven ability to be organised, prioritise a number of competing demands/tasks & manage time effectively & efficiently.
Ability to work independently and within a team; and ability to work under instruction with a willingness to learn.
Highly effective interpersonal and written communication skills and computer literacy
Ability to work flexible work hours, including weekends when negotiated
Understanding WH&S requirements of the role and physical ability to move / transfer clients & equipment safely

ASARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) 3 doses are required for Category A positions (refer to NSW Policy Directive PD2022_030 Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases).
ASARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) 3 doses are highly recommended for all other health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.
