What you'll be doing
All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote culture and supporting practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with consumers, clients and employees.
All staff are expected to take reasonable care that their actions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others, that they comply with any reasonable instruction that is given them and with any reasonable policies/procedures relating to health or safety in the workplace, as well as notifying any hazards/risks or incidents to their managers.
- Provision of support to the nursing team in the delivery of nursing care in a mental health environment as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Provide direct care activities to consumers in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist Registered and Enrolled Nurses with consumer care interventions as directed
- Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required
- Communicate effectively with consumers and other health care team members in accordance with appropriate protocol

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available
Selection Criteria
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Descriptor: Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care) or equivalent; 2nd/3rd year undergraduate nursing student.
- Good written, verbal, communication, observation and reporting skills.
- Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous experience working in a care setting with an interest in mental illness and well-being.
- Understanding of issues surrounding consumer confidentiality.
