ABOUT THE ROLE
Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) has an Asset Renewals Strategy for Public Transport in conjunction with Public Transport Victoria (PTV). This strategy includes the replacement of existing obsolete systems and the introduction of new systems to enable integrated transport system.
Key elements of this strategy include the improvement and development of new and consolidated Operational Control Systems (OCS) and networks for a more streamlined and holistic approach.
The Junior Control Systems Engineer will support the enhancement works on MTM's Operational Control Systems and Network Infrastructure, as well as conduct systems engineering activities on related interfacing systems and networks as applicable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Liaise with professional and technical staff regarding appropriate hardware setup, software and operating system environments setup (including virtualisation), carry out integration tasks, perform data configuration, as well as complex problem resolution as directed by one-up manager
- Assist with the development and adherence to an OCS Security Policy framework and adherence to Communication Links for Signalling Engineering Standards
- Responsible for assisting with the development, commissioning, and upkeep of Signalling Train Control and Network Monitoring System
- Prepare Management of Change and Engineering Change notices arising MTM infrastructure change
- Consult with MTM Infrastructure, as required, to assist the Contractor(s) in the completion of the Works
- Manage individual packages of work on the project, as assigned, through the complete project life cycle
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience/ knowledge in delivering control system technical based solutions and/or project outcomes
- Experience/ knowledge in identifying and analysing risks, and making corrective actions
- Knowledge of software setup, configuration and hardware configuration;
- Knowledge in system drawing, network engineering and security, network monitoring systems
- Experience working in a UNIX environment
