As a member of The Sutherland Hospital & Garrawarra Centre Executive team, the Director of Operations will contribute to the overall leadership and management of the organisation as well as the development and implementation of future organisational goals and values in a strategic executive leadership role.

The role leads the operational accountability for the delivery of high quality services, as well as day to day management of the Directorate within allocated resources. The role is responsible for business planning and driving strategies relating to SESLHD Exceptional Care, Healthier Lives, particularly in domains such as Shaping the Future and Supporting Teams to Thrive through a sustainable health system at both sites and enhancement of wellbeing. The Director of Operations will deliver high quality patient care according to clinical standards and practice through guidance, leadership and provision of operational management and ensure quality and safety outcomes using appropriate staffing levels and skill mix. All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health service management with a clinical background or relevant equivalent work experience in clinical operations, or a combination of study and work experience
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the development, review and leadership of the achievement of organisational goals, strategies and business planning
  • Proven experience in facility and clinical service planning with a strong focus on incident management
  • Demonstrated conceptual and innovative problem solving skills for managing conflicting priorities and developing, implementing and monitoring recommendations and advice on policies, strategies and solutions across complex areas
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, verbal and written skills and demonstrated ability to consult, influence and negotiate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage human, financial and physical resources effectively and efficiently to ensure budget and performance targets are met
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in change management and managing projects with multiple groups of stakeholders
  • Current unrestricted drivers license and the willingness to travel between sites (The Sutherland Hospital and Garrawarra Centre and other hospitals within the District)
