AMEC Plastics is a plastic injection moulding company now based in Arundel in the northern Gold Coast, 25 minutes from southern Brisbane suburbs. Operating on a 24/5 basis, the state-of-the-art new facility houses a fleet of machinery ranging in size from 60T to 900T, with over one third of machines less than 18 months old and all available machines with integrated automation. With contracts for government departments and household brands alike, AMEC has a bright and sustainable future ahead.

All die-setting is completed with an overhead crane which spans the entire factory floor space including roll out die racks and a fully equipped toolroom for maintenance and repairs. In-house tooling support is conducted by qualified toolmakers and machinists ensuring setups are as efficient and repeatable as possible. Materials feeding is done via Labotek central loading system and managed by a dedicated materials handler. Significant investment has been made into guaranteeing the process flow is as simple and efficient as possible to ensure sustainability in the workforce and an enjoyable working environment.

The Electrical and Process Technician is responsible for setting of automation, jigs and fixtures using the and ensuring parts produced are picked and placed correctly. The position is also responsible for design and setup of automation including 3 axis/6 axis robots and vision systems, and maintenance of electrical and electronics systems. Ongoing training in automation and moulding techniques will be provided for continual growth and professional development.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Electrical qualifications and experience
  • Good understanding of safety circuits and interlocks
  • Automation and vision systems experience
  • Industrial electrics understanding
  • Previous polymer training & experience in plastic injection mould setting
  • Mechanical aptitude with an emphasis on accuracy and precision
  • Fault finding abilities
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously or under limited supervision
  • Organised team player willing to commit to an enjoyable and motivated culture
  • Individual lockable toolbox and tools supplied

This role is a salaried position of $85,000 per annum plus superannuation guarantee.
