THE COMPANY
Paspaley Pastoral is heavily involved in Australian agriculture. Their holdings include several historically significant properties in NSW, spanning diverse climates and terrains and involve a wide range of activities including mixed summer and winter cropping, wine grapes, prime lambs, cattle, and merino wool.
‘Thornthwaite’ (6,666Ha) situated 10km west of Scone NSW, provides the breeding ground for 2,000 head of high-quality Poll Hereford and Angus cattle producing up to 900 steers and 900 heifers each year.
Paspaley has undertaken significant restoration to the range of historic buildings on the property, including a sandstone homestead, cottages, stables, a woolshed, a dairy and a winery.
THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Property Manager you will assist with the livestock enterprises with a focus on cattle handling and production. You must have experience with beef cattle husbandry, mustering and care.
You will enjoy working within a team environment but be responsible and capable to be proactive and complete tasks independently. It is essential that you can train and keep your own working dogs.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in all livestock husbandry including drenching, mustering, calf marking, feeding and all other cattle handling procedures.
- Have a clear understanding of the welfare of livestock and the ability to communicate to management any concerns or advise in relation to water and feed requirements and overall well-being.
- Actively participate in mustering using horses and four-wheel bikes (quads).
- To check and report on fences and yards requiring repair and to report any equipment or machinery requiring repair or maintenance to management.
- Assist in loading and unloading of trucks.
- Repair and maintenance of water systems.
- To operate plant and equipment efficiently and competently.
THE REQUIREMENTS (bullet points preferred)
- Min. 3-5 years cattle handling experience.
- It is essential that you can train and keep your own working dogs.
- Ensure high-level standards of OH&S and animal welfare.
- Must be a ‘Hands-on’ team player who enjoys getting your hands dirty.
- Be comfortable in communicating with management and your team.
