About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic experienced professional to join our leadership team in the position of General Manager Rail Operations. This key pivotal role will be responsible for the overall management of all Journey Beyond Rail Operations including optimising the delivery of the back of house functions. You will:

• Oversee the design, planning and implementation of consist and timetable management;
• Be responsible for managing Rail Expeditions large operational contracts to deliver safe, well maintained and operated, on-time reliable rail journeys;
• Provide strategic direction, recommendations, guidance and support to direct reports and the Rail Leadership team in delivering each of the pillars of the business plan;
• Direct and oversee the financial performance of Rail Operations including the identification of any potential risks to meeting budget forecasts whilst optimising productivity and efficiency;
• Direct and oversee the development and implementation of systems that deliver rail safety culture and ensure audits result in no material non-conformance.

Experience

• High level of Rail Operations industry experience in complex rail operations management is essential;
• Fluent in the relevant legislative and regulation frameworks for rail operations in Australia;
• Technically proficient in the mechanisms and intricacies of the rail network in Australia.

• A high level of Rail Operations industry experience and will be fluent in Australia's relevant legislative frameworks for rail operations in Australia;
• Demonstrated experience in leading and developing geographically dispersed teams within a complex, high risk environment and ensuring safety of all guests and staff;
• Analytical and numerate skills and proven experience managing operating P&L;
• Understanding how to get the best out of people, leading a culture of continuous improvement;
• A proven track record in driving positive outcomes and building success across a diverse workforce to lead and drive cultural change; and
• The ability to negotiate with advanced stakeholder management skills.
