Role and Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to join Block Renovation in a leadership role within the growth organization as the Head of Strategic Partnerships. We are looking for an individual with experience building and scaling the strategic partnerships function from the ground up. This role will start as an individual contributor with the goal of building an organization around this person as we land partnerships that require operational and strategic support to scale.
We’re looking for a strategic self-starter that can hit the ground running building a pipeline of partners to accelerate the acquisition of Homeowners looking to remodel their homes, with the secondary focus on securing partnerships that can scale Blocks contractor network and supply chain at large.
It will be the leader’s responsibility to build the strategy for how we source, pitch, and close deals with partners that can rapidly accelerate our user acquisition efforts, making dramatic improvements in our LTV to CAC. This person will need to work cross functionally to support the execution of partnerships. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with excellent project management and data analytics skills
- Build a playbook for sourcing potential partners and getting key decision makers in the conversation as early as possible.
- Stand up the process for managing opportunities within our sales CRM so we can easily track deal progress and track all conversations in a single place.
- Source and negotiate terms for new homeowner and contractor acquisition channels
- Own the creation of custom pitches per target based on the best angle for starting a deal taking into consideration the value for both Block and the respective target.
- Act as the key point of contact internally and externally for all partnership conversations and own the process flow for supporting internal teams on connecting with new partners.
- Build the standard operating procedures for how all employees should work with potential partners so that we are maintaining a consistent message to all potential targets.
- Build the playbook for scaling from pilot to long term contract with all strategic partners including the terms of the deal, the internal operations needed to support the engagement, and the system for tracking results.
Qualifications
- You have 10+ years of experience in business development / strategic partnerships, including taking deals from negotiation through scale.
- You are passionate about strategic partnerships and the ability that the right partner has to impact the growth trajectory for a business like Block
- You foster growth within the teams you work with and manage, encouraging feedback, debate and information sharing
- You believe in doing the tasks you ask of others and have no problem rolling up your sleeves to get a deal across the finish line
- Experience effectively developing, communicating, and implementing complex plans, strategies, and tactics
- Effective prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong analytical skills with a deep knowledge of B2B metrics and the levers that drive those metrics
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Block wants all employees to be supported in their personal and professional development, so we take a comprehensive approach to total rewards. We practice a market-based and performance-driven compensation philosophy which compensates employees fairly and competitively, and rewards strong performance. This position has a base salary range from $128,000 to $180,000, and will also be eligible for a performance-based bonus. This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for a NY-based position. The actual base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience, knowledge and skills, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors.
