About the team

The Commercial Transformation team forms part of our Centre of Excellence and plays a critical role in providing Subject Matter Expertise and support to our Business Unit teams across the Coles Merchandise business.


About the role

The Insights & Analytics Manager is a newly created position and will be responsible for leading and operationalising Merchandise data science and analytics, visualisation, insights and decisions, and outcome measurement capabilities as part of the Business Unit Data team.


In this exciting new role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of Merchandise insight generation capabilities.
  • Working with the Merch Business Stakeholders to identify and prioritise Merch insight generation initiatives.
  • Lead and facilitate insight generation workshops with impacted stakeholders and delivery to end users.
  • Work across multiple stakeholder groups to contribute to enterprise level data and analytics topics, projects and roadmaps on behalf of the Merchandise Business.
  • Analyse the impact of enterprise level data and analytics changes to the Merchandise Business, with a view to facilitate Merch Business adoption.
  • Facilitate design sessions to walk impacted stakeholders through deliverables and outputs e.g. dashboard reporting, Merch analytics model.
  • Developing plans and processes to monitor and track Merch insight generation initiatives.
  • Managing and providing mentorship for team members, along with any performance review activities.


About you and your skills

To be successful in this role, you'll need the following:


  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, data management or analytics field is highly regarded.
  • Highly capable in working with business applications, systems, reporting tools and databases.
  • Proficiency in databases, data warehouses, SQL, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Power BI and Snowflake, is essential.
  • Strong technical experience: SQL, data visualisation (Microsoft Power BI preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading insight generation and data & analytics initiative teams.
  • Strong understanding of data and analytics leading practices, market trends, technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and implementing data and analytics principles and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of business and technical challenges for implementing data centric solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience of complex problem solving and managing change in an organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing across multiple stakeholders and functions.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery practices.
