About the team
Come and join the GV Health Rural Allied Health Team (RAHT), a team with a well renowned supportive workplace culture with an opportunity to work alongside a range of experienced allied health professionals. The team is an established and progressive multi-disciplinary team which includes Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Social Work and Speech Pathology services, supported by Allied Health Assistants.
About the role
A unique and exciting opportunity is available to join our team as an Intake Worker. The successful candidate will be supported and supervised by the RAHT Team Leader to assist across all disciplines to deliver a high standard of customer service which promotes timely access to services to meet their healthcare needs. The role is an office-based position and involves completing a variety of tasks to support the intake of referrals and follow-up of consumer enquires.
The role is ideal for someone seeking a change from working in direct client care to a behind the scenes role which supports the service to make a true difference to our clients independence and well-being.
The Intake Worker will provide person centred care with an opportunity to:
  • Screen referrals and determine client eligibility for Rural Allied Health Team programs
  • Collect information from consumers and/or referral resources to help determine priority levels, dependent on consumer level of need.
  • Triage referrals and determine priority level, with support and a step-up model to the RAHT Team Leader and/or experienced RAHT allied health professional (AHP’s) to assist with complex cases
  • Re-direct referrals to more appropriate services, as required
  • Provide feedback to service providers/referral sources
  • Provide support and advice to consumers and service providers to assist with general enquiries e.g. waiting times, updates on care or interventions on behalf of clinicians, where appropriate
  • Undertake audits, quality improvement and activities to support accreditation
We are looking for:
  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) qualification with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) if an Enrolled Nurse.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a multidisciplinary allied health team or other community setting, including knowledge of the allied health disciplines and community-based work.
  • Ability to apply clinical knowledge to support the intake of allied health referrals
  • Initiative, self-motivation, organisational and time management skills, an ability to prioritise tasks, and to use time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed data entry and computer literacy including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook), Internet and client information management/database systems
  • A high level of communication, organisational and time management skills.

The role may be abe to be combined with the Team Assistant (AHA or EN) position to create a full-time position for the right candidate.

  • Essential : Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision whilst under the direction of the Program Manager, Team Leader and clinical staff as required.
  • Essential : Well-developed data entry and computer literacy including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook), Internet and information/database systems.
  • Essential : Self-motivated with a high level organisational and time management skills, including an ability to prioritise a flexible and varied workload to maximise use of time and meet deadlines.
  • Essential : Satisfactory National Disability Insurance Scheme Worker Screening Check, Victorian Employee Working with Children Check and completion of Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration prior to commencement of employment. Do you agree with this requirement?
