The opportunity
The Corporate Investigations team are expanding and currently looking for a curious and critical thinking Investigations Analyst to join the Sydney CBD-based teams. The role will enhance, monitor, analyse and assess multiple data sources and claims systems, to produce detailed intelligence reports to reduce QBE’s exposure to any internal fraud (non-customer claims fraud).
Furthermore, you will support operational needs by analysing internal systems, social media, and other open-source internet sites, as sources of data collection to integrate these information sources within the Corporate Investigations Unit (CIU), providing timely, accurate and effective assistance to all aspects of new and existing cases. Further responsibilities:
- Gather, organise, and analyse multiple data and information sources to identify and investigate patterns and anomalies, draw intelligence value, and establish new avenues of inquiry in ongoing investigations
- Complete assessment and reporting in relation to ongoing detection and proactive identification of fraudulent activity
- Assist in the development of information or data collection plans and intelligence analysis
- Escalate suspicious activity for investigation and support the delivery of the investigation where required
- Identify process improvements and other ways to deter internal fraud, whilst assisting to educate the broader business
- Monitor data for trends and recommend appropriate strategies and approaches to address emerging issues
- Manage stakeholder working relationships, both internal and external to QBE, including brokers and business partners, in order to optimise outcomes, improve influence, brand and reputation

Your story will include strong interpersonal skills in establishing relationships with senior stakeholders, as well as effective time management to meet deadlines. In addition to this, you will have strong influencing skills, be a critical thinker, have the ability to adapt to various thought processes to matter at hand, as well as appropriate report generation skills.
- Relevant experience in data analysis, planning, and utilising open-source sites for data collection
- Knowledge of Claims systems, processes, and procedures
- Exposure to investigations or intelligence (desirable)
- Experience working in an Insurance/Financial Services industry
- Previous experience in an information analytics role (desirable)
- General understanding of internal fraud categories, fraud identification principles and investigative processes (desirable)
- Intermediate Microsoft Suite skills as well as MI tool PowerBI
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Ability to build relationships across the business
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn
