The Data Analytics Team within the Information Technology Directorate is the department’s data powerhouse enabling data driven decisions, equity and overall evidence-based improvement for our schools and students. Our team is involved in collecting, storing, and transforming data, from multiple sources, into information and meaningful insights for use across Education and NSW.
About the role
The Lead Business Analyst, will be part of the Business stream, delivering business analysis related artefacts and providing leadership in business analysis activities for the Data Analytics Team. This role will contribute to the team by:
- Translating business problems into questions that analytics can answer
- Using analytics results to identify viable options
- Explaining technical results to non-technical stakeholders
- Visualising data and translate results via data storytelling
- Building and demonstrating empathy for the customers

Essential requirements of the role
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in Analytics/Business Intelligence or similar
- projects
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications, or equivalent, in ICT.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education
- Hold a valid clearance to work with Children (Working with Children Check)
Key knowledge and experience
- 5+ years of experience in similar roles as a Business Analyst with strong skills in delivering process, Analytic/BI projects, change and reporting solutions for business areas
- Experienced and skilled in both process and data analytical skills
- Ability to work with diverse range of stakeholders, with skills to manage, coach and mentor others to deliver the required outcome
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
