This role will lead profitable underwriting operations for Whole Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) and Micro Farms. Execute business strategy for WFRP by establishing relationships and utilizing expertise to underwrite, audit and verify accurate completion and submission of policy documents to contribute to a profitable portfolio.

- Forge and maintain strong relationships with external partners and regulatory contacts by serving as the primary point of contact and promptly responding to questions and product inquiries in addition to reviewing and responding to yearly policy and procedure changes
- Partner with Crop IT on implementation of changes to WFRP and Micro Farms products
- Collaborate with regional leaders, Training, and Marketing to develop and implement strategy to help drive business
- Develop and ensure adherence to WFRP and Micro Farms underwriting and processing standards, objectives and guidelines
- Coordinate annual underwriting of WFRP and Micro Farms new and renewal application packets and revised Farm Operation Reports by managing own workload and assisting the WFRP workload of branch offices
- Assist the WFRP team with underwriting complex policies in a timely and efficient manner to meet department production requirements, state regulatory requirements and agent expectations and escalating issues as necessary
- Foster a partnered approach to underwriting by communicating and collaborating with the team to transfer expert knowledge, impart best practices, mentor others, and promote a team environment
- Conduct yearly research on expected yields and expected values to help underwriters verify reasonableness of insured reported values on WFRP and Micro Farms packets. Annually coordinate with the Farm Service Agency to obtain the Noninsured Assistance Program Expected Yield and Prices tables
- Respond to internal and external compliance findings/audits and assist Compliance and Legal Counsel with reviews, disputes, and litigation
- Coordinate an annual internal audit and review program of WFRP and Micro Farms policies
- Assist with supporting Crop Underwriting and Crop Claims as required
- Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs, and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

- 3 years relevant experience

- Technical experience with Microsoft Office Suite

- Effectively and efficiently present logic, reasoning, and analysis to others
- Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups to settle differences with minimum noise

Preferred Experience
- 5 years relevant experience including accounting or crop insurance background
Preferred Licenses/Certifications
- CPA
Preferred Knowledge
- Knowledge of crop insurance, livestock operations and ag tax preparation
- Events affecting the industry, including understanding of competition and the marketplace for assigned program/s
- Advanced working knowledge of underwriting methodologies and best practices
- Advanced working knowledge of organizational underwriting guidelines and standards
- Understanding of laws and regulations relevant to underwriting standards, processes and procedures

Base pay offered will vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location and business needs
Annual Salary Range: $66,000 - $99,000
