About the role

As our next Production Leading Hand to proudly represent our Mining Team, you will live for challenges and thrive on the variety of work available. Like all of us at Thiess, you’re a passionate and energetic person, that appreciates responsibility, recognition and reward.

In this unique position, you’ll have the chance to take on a range of mining operation activities and supervision at the project. In this role, you will:
Leadership of skilled and unskilled production mining team following managers and supervisors directives

Ensure crew members are operating machinery in a safe and efficient manner to achieve set targets in line with mine plan

Seek opportunities to improve overall project performance

Instruct/inform crew about tasks to be completed

Provide development and performance feedback to your crew

Step up into Supervisor position as required

Coordinate and communicate to the crew, plans and priorities for the day

Resolve on the job work issues and refer any unsolved issues and problems to the Supervisor

Maintain daily production records for team

About you

At least 12 months mining experience as a production leading hand

At least 4 years mining experience as mining production excavator operator

Experience in loading dump trucks in a mining production environment essential

Sound knowledge and understanding of ore mark ups and pit configuration

Skills to mine out benches and cutting batters, leaving minimal amount of material for final trim to design of batter angle

HR drivers licence (desirable)

Proven compliance and commitment to health and safety at all times
