Hume City Council is located on the northern fringes of Melbourne. We have five public libraries including Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Sunbury, Gladstone Park and Tullamarine Libraries servicing a growing population of over 230,000 people.

About the role

Hume Libraries is looking for qualified individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to join our library operations team. Reporting to the Operations Support and Engagement Officer, the Library Operations Support Officer supports the delivery of various service-wide support functions. These include roster support, operational purchasing, general operational and administrative duties, as well as training and project support. This is a great opportunity to be involved in something different from the usual day-to-day tasks.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need exceptional organisational skills, be self-driven and have strong communication skills. You will be familiar and proficient in the use of MS Office, records management, finance and rostering software preferably RM8 and Finance One. You will also require strong customer service skills as you will be required to undertake customer service shifts on the library floor at any of our five libraries as rostered.

  • Excellent and proficient computer skills
  • Ability to work with limited direction and accept a high level of personal responsibility for completing tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to manage own time and the ability to be well organised and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent internpersonal and verbal and written communication, including negotiation skills.
