  • $84,340pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • 9 day fortnight

Our opportunity

Working closely with the Principal Industry Lead, you will contribute to growing the prosperity of the region by encouraging and identifying economic development opportunities, with a focus on major event attraction and retention.

As the Major Events and Partnerships Officer you will play a key part in the identification, management and evaluation of partnerships that drive economic outcomes for the region and activate Council’s Sponsorship Policy while working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders on matters related to major event delivery.

Working in collaboration across the greater Economic Development team, you will build productive relationships internally and externally to support the delivery of programs and initiatives under the Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS). You'll also:

  • Promote Moreton Bay as a destination for medium to large scale events.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to activate Council’s Sponsorship Policy to drive economic outcomes, by managing a pipeline to secure a diverse range of medium to large scale events for the Moreton Bay Region including initiation, management and execution of formal partnership contracts.
  • Work closely with other Council departments and Council’s Destination Management Partner in relation to key sponsorship deliverables including marketing and promotion, community engagement and activations.
  • Prepare quality reports, submissions and briefing notes to inform decision makers, including Council’s Sponsorship Review Panel.
  • Develop key messages and content about Council’s sponsorship activities for print, electronic and online distribution and social media activities.
  • Coordinate the evaluation of sponsored events to report economic impact to Council.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with partners and stakeholders and negotiate positive outcomes.
  • Represent Council in the Moreton Bay business community including attendance at out of business hours meetings and functions as required.

About you

We are seeking someone experienced in tourism, events and marketing and self-motivated, and driven to provide exceptional service to diverse stakeholder groups.

You will have a natural ability to communicate persuasively, engage in active listening and foster collaboration and cooperation, and facilitate small work groups. In addition you will have highly-developed analytical skills, and possess an ability to take a strategic perspective on emerging matters.

In addition, you will bring:

  • Project management and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to develop plans, coordinate actions, gain cooperation and deliver outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a busy team with previous experience delivering exceptional customer service and supporting diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly to deadlines on multiple tasks/projects with advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quickly become proficient in the use of CRM databases and systems.
  • Demonstrated business acumen including the ability to prepare professional business communication such as reports, presentations, and project, planning and policy documents.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work individually and as an effective team member with a continuous improvement approach.
  • Be available and willing to work outside normal hours on occasion.
