The Role

The purpose of the role is to bring mechanical engineering expertise to the product development team collaborating with other engineers in a cross functional team working on a variety of products through the discover, design and deliver phase. You will be responsible for completing assigned tasks to ensure the product meets client needs and stakeholder expectations. Bring your innovative thinking and curiosity to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of the product

  • Suggest methods to improve operational efficiency

  • Work cross-functionally with different teams and organisations

  • End to end product development from research and discovery, concept creation and renderings, 3D modelling, detailed design and development, human factors research and compliance, new product implementation and manufacture

  • Research and engagement in emerging digital technology and user experience

  • Communicate imaginative thought processes and idea generation

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to manage project outcomes

  • Work a multi-disciplinary team

  • Utilise design controls to maximise the chances of your design attaining a successful outcome

  • Apply entrepreneurial principles in planning and undertaking project activities to create intellectual property that new businesses can be built around

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • Ability to read and understand designs and schematics

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work

  • Experience collaborating on problems within a multi-disciplinary R&D environment

  • An understanding of designing for manufacturing processes: injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, compression moulding, elastomers, machining

  • An understanding of complexities associated with integrating electronic components and sub systems

  • Understanding of new product development under design controls as specified by a Quality Management System (ISO9001, ISO13485, GMP or similar)

  • An ability to produce high quality technical documents that are credible, easy to read with a clear layout, consistent formatting, correct spelling and grammar

  • Computer Skills (required): Microsoft Office suite (inc Powerpoint & Project), CAD software (preferably Solidworks and/or Creo/Pro-e), Adobe Suite
