Applications are invited for exciting opportunities within the Specimen Reception Departments at our Westmead, Blacktown and Nepean Laboratories, three of the busiest laboratories in Western Sydney.
We are seeking staff to join our dedicated and collaborative team members. You will perform a range of specimen reception services and also assist with customer queries and initial preparation of patient samples.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has an unencumbered Class C drivers licence and can drive between sites as required.
- Is available to participate in a 24/7-day roster including weekends and public holidays.
- Can multitask; i.e. maintain high quality work output while managing competing priorities
- Can work as part of a team
- Is self-driven and can work to deadlines with minimal supervision
- Can work in high pressure environments
- Can enter large volumes of data accurately and is proficient with Windows based computer systems.
- Has a knowledge of (or is willing to learn) laboratory medical terminology

What you'll be doing

- Unencumbered Class C Driver's License (valid in NSW) with the capacity to drive to any site as required
- Proven data entry skills with a high degree of attention to detail
- Demonstrated customer service experience and skills, preferably in a clinical environment, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases
This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand NSW Health Policy Directive PD2022_030 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Diseases. All recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. All recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.
All NSW Health workers are required to have two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, as defined by NSW Health. Employees working in a clinical area or are required to attend clinical areas are considered category A. Category A positions are required to provide evidence of having received three doses of COVID-19 vaccine in accordance with the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (TGA) and meet the requirements of the Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy Directive. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
