Medical Research Assistant
  • Part time position (up to 10 hours per week) for 12 months

About the role

Our Cardiology team is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated medical research assistant to transfer data from current Congenital Cardiac database to a new database. This position is ideally suited for a health sciences student studying in a clinical setting and/or a medical student in the last 2 years of their training.
  • Data entry
  • Sourcing of patient information including demographics, radiology and pathology reports from medical records
  • Scanning data into database
  • Transfer of the data requires understanding of complex congenital cardiac conditions and interventions.
About you
  • Background medical knowledge in anatomy, physiology and pathology as well as a basic understanding of clinical medicine is essential.
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting or medical environment
  • Proficient in IT programs including MS office suite and/or filemaker pro
About us

The Cardiology Department at the Royal Melbourne Hospital is in a growth phase with the opening of a new Cardiac Catheter Laboratory within the next couple of months. The Royal Melbourne Hospital is part of the Parkville precinct and is co-located with the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The Parkville precinct uses and electronic medical record.

As a Medical Research Assistant you are a vital member of the Cardiology team who strive to provide excellent care to patients and their families. Your interactions with patients, relatives and colleagues are guided by the organisation’s vision and the Melbourne Way.

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Record Check, and where applicable, Working With Children Check (WWCC).
