SWSLHD has a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic team member to join SWSLHD ICT Services as the inaugural Midwifery Informatics Manager.

We are looking for a natural leader who actively engages with stakeholders across the health system to lead the implementation of new and emerging health technologies for midwifery practice.


About The Opportunity
This role is located within the Information, Communication, & Technology (ICT) Service within SWSLHD and will be responsible for ensuring SWSLHD is well positioned to deliver innovative midwifery technology enhancements to both support and enhance clinical workflow, ensure patient safety, and optimise patient experience.

What You'll Be Doing
This role will be responsible for providing ongoing clinical leadership for the PowerChart Maternity application, and engaging with clinical, patient and executive stakeholders across SWSLHD, under the leadership and guidance of the Clinical Information Systems Manager and Chief Nursing & Midwifery Information Officer. The position will ensure that the PowerChart Maternity application is well positioned to deliver updated technology enhancements to support clinical workflows and improve patient safety.

In partnership with the Women’s Health Stream Clinical Leads, the position will provide ongoing support for SWSLHD midwifery staff to optimise opportunities for enhanced documentation, as well as to provide accurate data to ensure compliance for reporting to the Ministry of Health.

As part of the ICT team at SWSLHD the role will bring vision and clarity to the application, be able to effectively communicate, be self-directed, to improve the provision of compassionate care always, through leading effective work cultures that transforms the patient and staff experience, in line with SWSLHD Transforming Your Experience.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  • Demonstrated senior midwifery experience current and unrestricted Midwifery Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant tertiary qualifications or working toward the same; or relevant work experience or combination of study and work experience.
  • Proven leadership skills in a senior management role, with demonstrated organisational, analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in Cerner eMR applications with a high level understanding of contemporary issues in clinical systems and applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate clinical services and manage change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a complex team environment.
  • Proven application of project management, business process review, organisational change and benefit realisation methodologies with a high level of computer literacy.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity principles and ability to manage data errors through support and education across SWSLHD Women’s Health and facility services. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
