About The Opportunity
The successful applicant will be rostered at Liverpool where a 3 T MR Simulator unit is located. They will be part of the pre Radiation Therapy imaging team that acquire MRI and CT scans prior to patients commencing Radiation Therapy treatment. This highly skilled team of radiographers and radiation therapists are responsible for completing MR and CT simulations where immobilisation devices are used for treatment and IV contrast is used to improve image quality. This role will allow you to be actively involved in research projects & ongoing staff education to improve patient care through the use of MRI within radiation oncology. It is an opportunity to apply your diagnostic CT and MRI knowledge and also become more familiar with the specific requirements for individualised Radiation Therapy.

What you'll be doing
The MRI radiographer will support the implementation, operation, clinical use, research and development projects associated with the MRI simulator at Liverpool CTC as an active member of the pre-treatment planning team and also provide accurate and timely imaging services as requested whilst providing staff with experienced imaging skills support.

  • Demonstrated effective organisational and time management skills including an ability to self-motivate and self-direct own training & learning, including continuing professional development.
  • Can demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, both spoken and written with the ability to relate to patients, visitors and staff groups; including the ability to clearly communicate complex issues to all levels of staff.
  • Demonstrated involvement in, and ongoing commitment to research in the field of MRI, in particular its use in Radiation Oncology.
  • Ability to objectively assess new MRI sequences for their potential use in Radiation Oncology, including image evaluation and operational impact.
  • Demonstrated experience and broad clinical knowledge in General Radiography and extensive knowledge in both MRI & CT with the ability to apply this knowledge in a radiation therapy department, including the capacity to contribute to the establishment and maintenance of clinical protocols and competencies for both CT and MRI.
  • Demonstrated capacity to supervise, educate, train and objectively assess members of the multidisciplinary team, in particular Radiation Therapists, in the use of MRI and associated new practices and technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Safe Work Practices relating to the MRI work area and the ability to be accountable for and oversee safe access for patients, volunteers and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a harmonious workplace with proven high level problem solving with the capacity to present SWSLHD Radiation Oncology in a strong and positive manner.
