What you'll be doing
This position is responsible for the day to day management of staff and clinical needs within Acute Care, which support the overall management of the Occupational Therapy Department. The role is also required to lead, guide and manage the Occupational Therapy acute service and implement high levels of clinical expertise in order to provide high quality Occupational Therapy care to patients of Royal North Shore Hospital consistent with NSW Health and Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) policies, procedures and standards.
The position is required to demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and operate autonomously with minimum direct clinical supervision. Exercise independent professional judgement when required in solving problems and managing cases where principles, procedures, techniques and methods require expansion, adaptation or modification.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and general registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Demonstrated experience as a level 2 or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated extensive clinical expertise in provision of Occupational Therapy services within Acute Care across various clinical areas
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational and decision making including clinical reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) and demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications
  • Proven ability to provide leadership, to effectively manage and support staff and to work with staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting program development, quality improvement activities and professional education
