The opportunity

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed Oncology Pharmacist to work in our Oncology and Intravenous Preparation Unit at John Fawkner Hospital.

This full time role will require you to work 38 hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Monday to Friday inclusive. There is a requirement to work on the on-call roster. Flexibility in working additional hours at minimal notice will also be highly regarded.

Our oncology service is well respected and services a variety of private and public cancer centres, providing a comprehensive oncology pharmacy service with a commitment to quality patient care.

Reporting to the Senior Oncology Pharmacist, the Oncology Pharmacist is involved in the preparation of a variety of parenteral admixtures including cytotoxic medications, clinical screening of oncology and haematology protocols, providing a clinical pharmacy service with drug information and education and managing clinical trials/compassionate access programs.

Key responsibilities

• Compounding/mixing chemotherapy/aseptic products in a laminar-flow cabinet/pharmaceutical isolator
• Dispensing and checking prescriptions in accordance with PBS regulations
• Preparation, checking, packing and labelling of final oncology products
• Assisting with stock/inventory management
• Adhering to aseptic manufacturing standards, including performing laminar-flow/isolator maintenance/cleaning
• General duties, including attending to client needs via telephone and email queries

You must have

• A can-do attitude and team focus
• The ability to work in isolation within a cleanroom environment
• The willingness to undergo annual blood tests and monitoring
• Proven ability to adhere to WHS policies and protocols
• Advanced oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of hospital staff
• A high level of attention to detail and precision in record keeping
• Current registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
• Membership with a Professional Indemnity Insurance provider
• Current Covid-19 vaccinations as per Public Health Orders
