The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely payroll preparation and related responsibilities such as tax reporting and payroll systems maintenance.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Processes weekly and semi-monthly payrolls according to the union contract, company policy and FLSA laws.
  • Responsible for all payroll tax activities including preparing and filing tax reports and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Calculates fringe benefits.
  • Directs compilation and preparation of other payroll data such as 401K, insurance, and union payments.
  • Reviews and approves payroll deductions.
  • Prepare associate TIPS bonus payments.
  • Documents and updates procedures.
  • Maintains payroll systems.
  • Coordinates internal and external audits. Prepare audit workpapers.
  • Prepare reports for senior management.
  • Explain and answer questions related to associate paychecks.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in payroll processing preferred.
  • Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred.
  • Strong math skills / analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Computer literate - AS400 preferred, MS Excel and MS Word skills required.
  • Accounting background helpful.
  • Previous experience working with and handling confidential information.
  • Payroll in union environment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborative environment
