Purpose: The Personal Care Worker provides the day to day care of residents.
Primary Objectives: The Personal Care Worker ensures they:
- Fulfill duty of care
- Respect the resident’s rights to privacy and to be treated with dignity;
- Understand and protect the rights, needs and responsibilities of the residents;
- Understand and protect the rights, needs and responsibilities of the workforce.
Terms of Employment: As per the agreed employment contract and standing EBA.
The probationary period for staff employed by Warramunda Village is 6 months.
A Professional Development Review will be undertaken after three months of
employment and annually thereafter.

Qualifications: Essential:
Certificate III or IV in Aged Care
Current First Aid certificate.
Desirable
Aged care experience;
Physical Standards • Read computer screen 10 % of the time
(Approximate):
- Sit 10 % of the time
- Walk / Stand 90 % of the time.
- Bend, squat up to 50 % of the time.
Reports to: Registered Nurse, Care Services Manager and Clinical Care Coordinator.
Hours of Duty: As negotiated and rostered.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Continuous Integrating the Health, Personal Care and Lifestyle procedures within the continuous

Consistently following organisational and service policies, procedures, and work
instructions
Reading and understanding new and revised service and organisational work
instructions as distributed
Contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the OHS program,
demonstrating and promoting safe practices
Participating in training and development activities related to responsibilities
Knowledge and Skills Safe practice in accordance with responsibilities.
Integrating the values and philosophy of the organisation into work practices.
Maintaining and updating own knowledge base to ensure safe practice and effective
performance in the workplace, as guided by Management.
Recording accurate information and data as required by all processes and
procedures of the service.
Working in co-operation with other members of the health care team.
Demonstrating a positive attitude in accordance with the agreed role and
responsibilities of the position.
Displaying good customer service practices.
Personal Care and Meeting the personal care, hygiene, comfort, nutrition and hydration, mobility and
Hygiene skin integrity needs of the residents.
Assessing resident care needs in relation to washing/showering, hair care, pressure
care, nail care, care of dentures/teeth, hair removal, toileting, and pad allocation.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Assisting the residents with their personal care and hygiene needs whilst
encouraging their physical and social independence, with consideration for their
safety.
Reporting changes in resident condition to the RN / EN IC.
Understanding resident rights and care preferences and incorporating them into
work practices.
Ensure residents privacy and dignity is maintained.
Following Resident of the Day processes.
Health and Safety in the Team Members employed by Warramunda Village are required to participate in
Workplace Health and Safety (H&S) by:
- Adhering to Warramunda Village policies and procedures in relation to H&S
- Taking reasonable care to ensure that your own health and safety along with
- Reporting any injuries, hazards or illnesses where practical, immediately to
- Not placing others at risk by any act or omission and not wilfully or recklessly
- Attending mandatory training.
- Demonstrates understanding of workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Understands emergency response procedures.
Working Relationships Internal:
- Internal residential aged care services teams
External:
- External governing bodies and authorities when on site (eg. Worksafe / Aged
- Warramunda supporting consultants / industry bodies (eg. LASA, MOA)
Other Requirements • Unencumbered current Police Check, Working with Children’s Check and
DWES record check
- Minimum of two Satisfactory Referee Checks
- Adherence to the Disability Support Worker Code of Conduct, the Child Safety
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Warramunda Village uniform or approved attire is to be worn for all shifts.
Promotion of Team Members must at all times promote Warramunda Village in a positive manner
Organisation and are encouraged to support functions that raise the awareness of the
organisation in the community.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Attendance is required at Warramunda Village functions which involve the whole
staff team and client specific events.
Networking and attendance at functions outside of normal working hours will be
required from time to time.
Confidentiality The Team Member is:
- To understand issues relating to confidentiality in all aspects of work
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information.
- Always required to observe confidentiality and under all circumstances, both
confidentiality of all details of Warramunda Village affairs, client, and staff
details
Key Performance • All resident’s comfort, wellbeing and appearance meet standards;
Indicators
- Work practices demonstrate respect for resident’s property and living
- Practice reflects work instructions and given by the Registered Nurse or
- Confidentiality, privacy and dignity are always maintained;
- Organisational training is completed in the required time frame
