About The Opportunity:

South Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking a forward thinking, innovative and dedicated Nutritionist to join the current Health Promotion team.

In this role, you will use your specialist knowledge of current population health nutrition issues to plan, implement and evaluate public health nutrition initiatives across a large health district. You will use your experience in evidence-based practice to implement programs and initiatives in community-based settings, working particularly with diverse communities. You will also work collaboratively with health services, government, non-government and community organisations to improve the quality and reach of health promotion initiatives. You will use your excellent organisational skills to work with minimal supervision, and use your high-level communication skills to collaborate across teams, prepare written reports and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What you'll be doing:

The Nutritionist will primarily work with the Healthy Populations and Healthy Environments streams to develop and implement evidence-based and/or innovative policy and programs designed to:

  • Promote healthy weight in children 0 -18 years.
  • Reduce overweight and obesity in the general population
  • Build healthy food environments

The Nutritionist may also work on projects from the Close the Gap stream as required.

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition & Dietetics, eligible for membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia. Extensive Post Graduate experience.
  • Specialist knowledge of current population health nutrition issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, implementation and evaluation of public health nutrition initiatives.
  • Experience working in community-based settings particularly with diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience implementing evidence based practice, and identifies opportunities for improvement in professional practice.
  • Ability to work with government, non-government and community organisations and as part of a team.
  • Effective organisational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision and high level written and oral communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
