About the role

As a Principal Engineer for our Integration team, you will be involved in complex projects and programs by coordinating the efforts of multiple lead/snr engineers across the Integration function. Your day to day will look like:

  • Idea/Concept Shaping - Define and or review cloud architecture options and recommendations in response to a specific business requirement, product enhancements & feature requirements for customers.

  • Provide guidance and oversight to the development of the detailed designs whilst ensuring lead engineers are empowered to solve problems and make decisions based on defined best practices

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other members of the engineering community

  • Identify and communicate opportunities for the innovative use of technology to pursue defined business goals to business and technology stakeholders

  • Lead and guide the Technical Lead engineering function to promote engineering standards across Cloud and other Coles engineering teams, including through Agile ways-of-working

About you & your skills

You are someone who has In depth understanding of the Azure technology stack and how it can most effectively be deployed into a large corporate/retail environment alongside the following:

  • At least 5 years Lead Engineer experience

  • Experience in developing technical cloud solutions in large scale, complex mix of various technologies and applications

  • Experience in delivering large programs of work either migrating to, rebuilding or modernising solutions

  • Proven experience leading software development teams /squads at a complex enterprise level

  • Proven experience in software development

  • Proven experience in Agile ways of working to enhance products & services through engineering best practises

  • Strong experience rolling out complex reusable pattern into cloud environments.

  • Strong architecture skills, preferably with an emphasis on Integration, designing across multiple applications or domains

  • Experience in contributing to Infrastructure Strategy and Roadmap development

  • In depth understanding of Java and springboot, NodeJS, Python

  • Expert knowledge of CI/CD practices and tooling

  • Ability to understand business and IT strategy, environment, and trends across multiple functions

  • Strong understanding of Agile development practices with the ability to coach other team members where required

  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve outcomes

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or related Business disciplines, or significant industry experience

  • Ability to innovate new processes within work areas

  • Relevant retail business experience
