Position Overview
Allygroup is seeking an experienced privacy lawyer to join our federal government client. This client is a well-known agency where the work is important and of high-volume.
This role is within a specialist branch of the agency where the team supports digital transformation projects involving privacy across IT/Transformation projects, cloud, and automation of decision-making. This opportunity is an exciting role where you will gain invaluable experience working alongside technically skilled, like-minded people in key divisions.
Our client’s team is ideally seeking candidates who are collegiate and collaborative in their working style and focus on holistic deliverables. You will be able to comprehend complex legal frameworks and provide valuable foresight into the development of these projects and mitigate risks associated with the following areas of law:
social security law
health law
privacy and secrecy
data exchange
The experience you need to be successful:
Privacy Lawyers will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
Ensuring adherence to legislative obligations using a range of strategies, policies, frameworks and tools
Provide guidance to staff about the interpretation of Privacy Principles and other relevant legislative frameworks
Supervising and training junior lawyers in the team
Prepare concise draft reports with accuracy and attention to detail
Privacy policy development and implementation
Experience with privacy impact assessments, breaches of privacy, and complex case management experience.
In addition our successful candidates will require the following skills:
Project management of large government projects
privacy law advising’s and the ability to critically assess and interpret complex privacy matters
ability to work independently or collaboratively within a small team environment
excellent stakeholder management skills
delivering quality service delivery
effectively supervise and mentor junior staff
The Client is only able to engage Australian citizens for this role. Applicants will be required to hold a Baseline clearance, or have the ability to obtain a clearance after commencement.
