Primary objective

Provide high-level service and support within the delivery of Early Career Programs, supporting employment initiatives and

achieving outcomes for the Northern Territory Public Sector with a particular focus on program participant support.

Context statement

Working in the innovative Career Pathways team, the role focusses on the recruitment, development and coaching of participants

in entry level programs in the NT Public Sector. The ideal candidate for the role would have high levels of enthusiasm, passion

and a drive to facilitate positive employment outcomes to people by providing support to workplace supervisors of participants

and employees and proactively mentoring program participants.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Nurture positive relationships with agencies, regional staff and service providers across the Territory to deliver flexible,

tailored and innovative employment programs.

2. Assist in researching, planning, promoting and delivering programs such as scholarships, graduate and trainee programs.

3. Participate in the marketing, recruitment, selection and induction of participants.

4. Provide support to participants and supervisors participating in entry level NTG programs across a range of agencies and

disciplines.

5. Provide feedback and recommendations on participant progress and workplace issues.

6. Assist with evaluating and reporting on program progress and issues including innovative solutions to meet changing

organisational workforce needs.

7. Maintain accurate participant attendance records and workplace visit progress notes in TRIM and VETrak.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Proven experience mentoring, coaching, influencing and establishing strong professional relationships.

2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of vocational and non-vocational programs and the challenges in achieving and

maintaining long term employment.

3. High level of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to understand, negotiate and resolve conflict.

4. Demonstrated personal drive with an ability to manage time and competing priorities to meet deadlines.

5. Ability to apply judgement and initiative to achieve quality outcomes.

6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of being honest, professional, respectful, accountable

and innovative.

Desirable

1. Knowledge of the Australian Vocational Training system, labour market programs and Government initiatives that assist

people to transition into full time paid employment.
