Position summary

Downer is a leading provider of end-to-end Technology and Communications service solutions and offers integrated civil construction, wireless, electrical, fibre, copper and radio network deployment capability. Our Technology & Innovation business unit are responsible for Design & Completions, Business Reporting and Systems & Integration for the T&CS business & projects.

We are now seeking a Project Accountant to join our team based in North Ryde NSW.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for full financial reporting, forecasting and analysis of the assigned projects, ensuring accurate, transparent and timely financial reports are produced to support decision making. This position will use the multiple systems and tools available to support continuous improvement in financial analysis and processes. As a key contributor to the financial performance of the business, this position will partner with the business and project management to achieve outcomes. Responsibilities consist of but not limited to;

Coordinate the end of month process to ensure accurate and timely management reporting

Finalise the end of month results in the financial system

Maintain complete and accurate ledgers and accounts, complying with all relevant accounting and statutory requirements and legislation

Articulation of reports and analyses to senior managers and explanation of variances and drivers of the key values

Continuous improvement, reviewing existing processes and systems.

Identify opportunities / risks - provide recommendations

Analyse costs, pricing, margins, budget & forecast plans vs actuals, and cashflow

Conduct financial evaluations on existing projects - financial modelling and risk assessments.

ABOUT YOU

Tertiary Qualification in Accounting or equivalent qualifications preferred

Several years experience as project accountant/management accountant experience in a similar business environment

Advanced MS Excel skills and MS Power BI desirable

Experience using JD Edwards or a similar ERP

Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen

Excellent communication skills and tenacity to drive on-time financial inputs and deliverables out of project delivery teams

Understanding of Project Management tools and systems.
