What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment whilst developing higher professional maturity and professionalism. Provisional Fellows will, under an appropriate level of supervision by senior staff as approved by the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). The Fellow in Maternal Fetal Medicine will be eligible to complete a training programme in the subspecialty of Maternal Fetal Medicine in accordance with the criteria stipulated by the RANZCOG. Royal North Shore Hospital is an accredited training site for this subspecialty. There are currently two Certified Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists, one of which is a clinical academic. The Northern Sydney Local Health District offers an Integrated Training Program (ITP), for medical officers in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, based at the Royal North Shore Hospital, St Leonards. The program satisfies the requirements of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), for Membership and Fellowship.
  • Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
  • Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education.
  • Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
