About The Opportunity
South Western Sydney LHD is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated critical thinking Psychologist to join the Community Counselling and Intake Team.

You will be looking for a rewarding and exciting career and be someone who is a strong problem solver to thrive in this role. You will have proven clinical assessment and clinical judgment skills and be a true patient advocate. Your analytical abilities will reflect (remove in) strongly in your report writing, drug and alcohol assessments, risk assessment screening and client treatment plans and you will be dedicated to working with clients, service providers and their families to work through complex issues relating to substance abuse. You will understand the nature of substance abuse and have a sound understanding of when escalating risk is required.

The role is a great opportunity to develop your skills and provides a great way for you to progress your career. You will be working within a supportive, multidisciplinary team that focus heavily on working together to achieve a cohesive team. There are regular debriefs, catch ups and clinical reviews so you are continually supported within your role. On commencement in the position you will be extensively trained by the team and you will have a fantastic training package provided to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

What you'll be doing
To deliver evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions in order to address the needs of consumers who are living with a wide range of behavioural and emotional disorders.

The role also participates in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assists in the development
and provision of education and training programs. Additionally, the role supervises Psychologists and other disciplines working within the LHD according to organisational needs.

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Completion of a four-year sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of psychology (or equivalent completed overseas).
  • Demonstrated effective experience in assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with diverse patient and/or consumer populations.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently in the provision of patient/consumer-focused care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the quality improvement process for service development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience.
