Location: Civic Centre

Hours: 7.25 hours per day Monday – Friday (Either 8.00am – 4.15pm OR 8.45am – 5.00pm)

Typical Duties:

• Conduct daily CBD foot patrols within specified routes to ensure parking control compliance with the Australian Road Rules and Northern Territory Traffic Regulations to provide safe and accessible on- and off-street parking to visitors of the CBD.
• Issue infringement notices using Council’s electronic infringement notice system.
• Record and maintain Council and statutory records to the appropriate standard.
• Identify and report on issues such as missing or damaged signage, faded line-markings, abandoned vehicles, potholes etc
• Conduct Mall patrols to obtain compliance with Council By-Laws relating to non-permitted activities such as smoking, busking without a permit, riding of bicycles etc.
• Identify and report on anti-social behaviour observed within the CBD.
• Identify and refer vulnerable people for assistance by relevant support services.
• Liaise with Police and other government/public bodies and other Council departments to assist with day-to-day activities as required.
• Provide information, advice and assistance to the public when requested or when such advice/information would be helpful.
• Provide effective and timely responses to public enquiries and complaints regarding parking, anti-social behaviour and other related legislative non-compliance matters.
• Implement other compliance and enforcement activities relating to Darwin City Council By-laws and City of Darwin’s policies, strategies and plans as directed.
• Attend court proceedings to appear as a witness and give evidence in any legal proceedings.

Position Pre Requisites:

• Open Class C Drivers Licence
• National Police Check (or willing to obtain)

LGI Classification Level: Level 2

Hourly rate: $33.44 per hour (including casual loading) *can be negotiated depending on experience

Start Date: Wednesday 7 September

End Date: Monday 31 October 2022
