The Position

St John of God Hawkesbury District Health Service is a 120 bed acute hospital with an 8 bed High Dependency Unit and an Emergency Department seeing 25,000 patients per year. The Medical Unit is supervised by Visiting Medical Officers and Staff Specialists in a variety of sub-specialities including General Medicine, Geriatrics, Cardiology and Respiratory Medicine.

We are currently seeking an Unaccredited Orthopaedic Registrar to join the team on fixed term full-time basis for 12 months, commencing January 2023

About the department

• Five Visiting Medical Officers, Orthopaedic Surgeons, one Accredited Orthopaedic Registrar, as well as Career Medical Officers staff the Department of Orthopaedics.
• The case-mix is primarily elective orthopaedic surgery, with good exposure to arthroplasty surgery.
• There is a small amount of emergency orthopaedics seen through the Emergency Department.
• On-call requirements for the ED is shared between the Accredited and Unaccredited Orthopaedic Registrars at HDHS and the Nepean Hospital orthopaedic roster.

The successful candidate will have;

• Graduate of an Australian Medical Council (AMC) accredited Medical school or equivalent
• Eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
• A minimum of three years clinical experience
• Demonstrated clinical and procedural experience in an equivalent Orthopaedic setting.
• Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and research.
• Commitment to our service ethos.
• To act in accordance with the standards of behaviour outlined in the SJGHC Code of conduct.
• Have an understanding of and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
