Requirements
1) Current Texas license to work as a Registered Nurse 2) 3 years’ experience in Quality Improvement preferred.
Must have current RN licensure upon hire.
Summary
Assists with the development and implementation of QI and safety initiatives under the guidance of the director, and is responsible for monitoring clinical processes and initiatives. Responsible for tracking and analyzing trends and outcome reports and advising management on areas for improvement. Use tools to display data/evaluate processes; Qualitative and quantitative data collection, management, analysis, and reporting. Assists in providing organizational quality improvement and patient safety training. Assists in preparation of QA/UR/PI and Safety committee meetings. Identifies barriers to meeting objectives and alerts appropriate personnel with enough time to act. Assists Director of IPC to review and consult on process development and improvement for facility services departments to ensure infection prevention and control practices are made part of the duty responsibilities. Assists with monitoring of infection prevention practices to determine adherence to related processes (Surgery, EOC rounding, Isolation processes, kitchen facilities, construction, etc.). Assumes other related responsibilities as required. Must have the following skill sets: Proficiency with computers and various programs, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Microsoft Access databases; A working knowledge of data analysis tools and statistical programs preferred; Ability to interpret data to improve patient outcomes using appropriate mathematical tools; Ability to meet changing conditions and utilize critical thinking skills to analyze and interpret data; Ability to develop computerized presentations (i.e. Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, Visio); and Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Operationally, the RN Quality Improvement Specialist reports to the Director of Risk, Quality and Patient Safety.
OSHA TASK CATEGORY THREE: There is no anticipated risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job. Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.
