Our Hunter New England Health School Based Administration Traineeships are a great way to gain invaluable experience in administration and the health sector before you finish school.

A school based traineeship will allow you to gain a recognised qualification in Certificate III in Business (Medical Administration) with TAFE NSW in conjunction with your final two years of study at High School. School-based trainees work part time (one day per week, 7 hours) and contribute to their HSC via competency based training. The traineeship will provide a range of learning opportunities that will provide you with the exploration of career opportunities and pathways in NSW Health or transition your skills in Administration for future employers in other industries.

Some of the tasks our SBAT’s undertake in their shifts include data entry, record maintenance, filing and providing quality customer service. You’ll be supported to learn how to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in written correspondence.

We are looking for students who are:

  • Motivated
  • Excited to try something new
  • Enjoy communicating with a range of people
  • And want to work as part of a team providing support to the community

During the two year traineeship you will be supported by your HNE team, TAFE NSW, Apprenticeship Support Australia, other HNE SBAT’s and your school. A training plan with the units of study will be provided to your manager to ensure that the tasks that you are learning are aligned to the units of study being completed.

There are multiple opportunities available across our District, with our staff situated across over 60 sites of hospitals, community health centres and corporate offices.
