Energy Queensland now has a permanent opportunity for a Security Operations Specialist to be located at any major QLD location, and are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.
The role
The Security Operations Specialist is responsible for maintaining and operating Energy Queensland’s digital security detect and respond systems and processes (SIEM, Vulnerability Management, incident response) and associated services to deliver customer satisfaction and service quality levels in a complex enterprise environment.
Critical to your success in the role is your:
- Degree Qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline and/or equivalent industry experience and demonstrated competence appropriate to the position;
- CompTIA Security+;
- SPLUNK Core Certified User;
- Demonstrated experience writing and reviewing documentation including, but not limited to, design documents, competency standards, knowledge base articles and work instructions;
- Experience identifying, investigating and responding to cyber security incidents applying security forensic knowledge;
- Understanding of NIST Cyber Security Incident Handling;
- Ability to participate in an after hours standby roster;
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours.
The preferred candidate will be required to complete a probity check prior to commencement.

The position has been evaluated as Professional and Managerial Grade One (PM1). Remuneration will range between $96,098 - $136,243 per annum. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.
