About the role


In this role you will be playing a key role in the mentoring and knowledge sharing to and from other Cloud team members. You will provide technical expertise and advice (including documentation, presentations and showcases for example) as appropriate to the organisation. You will review and inform infrastructure and security solutions put forward by the wider architecture groups. All in all, you will be responsible for the development, testing and productionisation of automated infrastructure as code using Microsoft Azure (IaaS / PaaS / SaaS) to support Digital Teams within Coles Group. Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Development of integration IaaS/PaaS/SaaS solutions within Azure Cloud;
  • Development of re-usable components, patterns and frameworks to speed development for application teams in a manner that allows easy alignment with architecture.
  • Development and guidance with application teams to help create solutions that align with architecture
  • Code review, testing, deployment, and support of solutions to support application teams

About you & your skills

You are someone who has a passion for retail & ability to quickly learn and put into practice new technologies and concepts. You have excellent interpersonal & leadership skills alongside analytical & problem-solving skills.


  • Proven experience in software development especially in cloud native applications:
    • Strong development skills including:
      • languages (Python, Java, .NET, Javascript)
      • DevOps pipeline and process development (JFrog Artifactory, X-Ray, Azure Resource Manager, Azure DevOps, GitHub, AWS)
      • scripting skills (Perl, Python, Bash, Powershell)
    • Experience with on-premises and cloud deployments
    • Expert knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Strong experience rolling out complex reusable pattern into cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing, web services, API, integration technologies, networking, protocols and design patterns;
  • Strong experience with engineering practices, including:
    • Packaging, provisioning, configuration as code, logging and monitoring
    • Source code management
    • Continuous integration
    • Automation: build, test, and deploy
  • Proven experience with Agile development and working with Agile Teams
  • Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker, Kubernetes and AKS
  • Hands on experience implementing complex solutions using multiple frameworks;
  • Understanding of contemporary integration patterns and techniques.
