The opportunity
QBE Insurance is seeking an experienced Sustainability professional to be based in our Sydney or Melbourne office location. This crucial role will support and influence Group Executive members and other senior leaders across the business to identify opportunities to integrate sustainability within QBE’s business model, planning and decision-making processes.
This will include:
Strategy and Planning
- In conjunction with the Group Head of Sustainability, lead the formation and management of a new sustainability strategy and working group with senior leaders from Finance, Underwriting, Group Investments, Risk and Compliance, Operations and HR to ensure integrated approach to strategy development.
- Ensure the annual Sustainability Scorecard reflects the agreed strategy and priorities and work with stakeholders to ensure that key non-financial metrics and targets are identified and linked to performance management and incentives.
- Lead in the research and development of Board and GEC discussion papers on specific sustainability topics as required.
- Lead the engagement required with relevant Group and regional teams to embed sustainability into existing business planning, policies, processes and procedures.
Your story so far
Your story includes previous experience in developing strategy for a complex organisation, sustainability consulting or internal sustainability management roles, particularly in professional services or financial services, a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, commerce, law and/or business. Climate risk and opportunity related experience will be valued.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:
- Strategy development/strategic planning including development of objectives, metrics and targets
- Strong verbal and written communication and proficiency in developing executive-level papers, reports and presentations that are commercial and compelling
- Ability to build relationships and influence through others, across geographic and cultural boundaries
- Project management skills
