- Demonstrated ability to solve and investigate complex scientific problems.
- Demonstrated ability or the ability to develop skills in the development and validation of testing and analysers.
- Demonstrated independent application of scientific expertise to lead service quality and improvements in biochemistry practices and contribute to training, professional development, and technical competency activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and to work independently and collaboratively to produce effective work output and quality in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.
- Ability to develop skills in the management of the performance and operation of the scientific workload, resource allocation and assist with the management of others including a formal role in performance appraisal.
- Demonstrated ability to apply scientific knowledge, clinical judgement, and skills to provide advice to colleagues, clients, and supervisory management stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively by utilising interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships with clients and colleagues and to align a team and influence the culture.
- Demonstrated contributions and leadership role in; the quality of clinical practice within biochemistry, quality assessments, maintenance of quality management relevant legislative, administrative, and professional standards, and to NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
- Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable to contemporary workplaces.
- The successful applicant must hold a relevant degree in science or equivalent from a recognised University or other tertiary institution. A degree in Medical Laboratory Science would be considered preferrable. As this is an advanced scientific position the incumbent will have considerable demonstrated advanced experience in a clinical biochemistry laboratory.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration with the appropriate registration authority, including any necessary endorsements, to be provided to the employing service prior to the commencement of service. - The Central Core Laboratory delivers a 24-hour, 7-day service. Whilst this position is likely to involve predominantly day work, in this workplace, all newly appointed Core Laboratory staff are contracted to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements in the Core Laboratory to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.
