About the role
Our growing Structural team in Melbourne are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Engineer to join and contribute to the success of our buildings team.
The candidate will ideally have experience working on commercial buildings and be an enthusiastic Engineer keen to contribute to the Stantec family culture. You will service projects including those of relatively large size, of high complexity and with multiple clients.
We operate across all building types, including health, education, defence, retail and commercial buildings. The role will enable you to thrive in a successful global firm during this exciting chapter of growth.
Day to day tasks would involve:
- Deliver the structural engineering component of projects
- Work closely and develop a trusted relationships with other project stakeholders, notably architects, contractors, builders and end users to achieve efficient and cost-effective solutions with a high-quality outcome
- Complete structural component of projects in terms of programme, design execution, cost management, technical risk management and client satisfaction
- Prepare drawings and calculations in support of design concepts.
- Execute project design, documentation, and contract administration
- Liaise with local authorities, clients and consultant team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adhere to Stantec professional standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures
To be successful for this role you'll need:
- Bachelor Degree in Structural Engineering
- Ideally have experience working in an engineering consultancy environment working on buildings projects. Projects within the education, health and defence sectors would be advantageous, however not compulsory
- Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
- Structural software knowledge of SpaceGass, RAM Concept, ETABS or similar design programs
- Knowledge of building stability analysis and corresponding detailing
- Knowledge and capability across post-tensioned and reinforced concrete, steel, masonry and timber design fields
- Ideally be well connected/networked within the industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
- Problem solving mindset with strong interpersonal skills
