Mercy Community, a progressive Not-For-Profit offering diverse services, is seeking a Senior Work, Health & Safety Manager to join our team to ensure we can provide advice and support to the organisation on all HSE strategies, initiatives, and activities. Reporting to our General Manager Governance & Risk, this role will be instrumental in leading and managing the Work, Health and Safety function by developing and executing strategies and plans to ensure safety compliance, minimise risk, and drive continuous improvement.
The Role…
The primary purpose of the role is to promote Work, Health, and Safety in a collaborative and informative manner across the organisation. You will work alongside the executive team, employees and subcontractors and will have a strong field-based presence to mentor staff on all safety matters. You will also be pivotal in refining and driving the organisations WHS Strategic Plan.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Coordinating the development, implementation and ongoing review of organisational Work Health and Safety (WHS) systems.
- Ensuring that policies, procedures and systems aligned to relevant legislation, are implemented and promoted to provide and maintain safety awareness and workplace health and injury prevention across MC.
- Leading and facilitating risk assessments and incident investigation processes to completion and support business areas to ensure that controls and continuous improvement plans are implemented.
- Undertaking WHS audits to verify compliance.
- Recording, monitoring, and reporting on WHS employee and visitor incidents and provide advice on corrective and preventative strategies.
- Working closely with WHS representatives and facilitate WHS Committee meetings, as required.
- Oversee the development and delivery of relevant WHS training.
- Supporting the development and implementation of health awareness programs and initiatives for employees.
- Producing legible and legally defensible case notes, incident reports (client and staff) and/or other documentation as required by organisational procedures and legislation.
- Identifying improvements to policy, procedures, work instructions, other organisational systems, and the work environment.
About You…
To be successful in the role you have a relevant Work Health and Safety qualification, and extensive experience in a similar role. You will have demonstrated knowledge of legislation and standards relating to workplace health and safety. You will be highly analytical, able to implement Work Health and Safety systems, policies and strategies, and well as lead WHS audit management, reporting, and continuous improvement planning.
You will have strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to build collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. You will have an innate ability to implement systems and processes, have excellent planning capabilities, and ability to establish priorities to meet deadlines. Solid I.T. and systems skills will be highly advantageous.
