Purpose of the Role:
LRV Service Technician personnel will be ultimately responsible for the routine preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, fault finding, overhaul equipment removal and replacement, post work testing, damage & vandalism repairs, on call response, in-service incident support and vehicle recovery. Initially the incumbent will assist in the Product Introduction phase for the new vehicles including Testing and Commissioning prior to final delivery, and then will become part of the LRV Fleet Maintenance team.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and Repair
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks in conformance with the approved maintenance schedule and manual.
- Perform corrective maintenance tasks in conformance with the approved technical documentation.
- Perform fault diagnosis and identification on both the electrical and mechanical systems of the vehicle.
- Assist in the identification and production of vehicle modification programs to improve reliability and maintainability.
- Establish, maintain and deliver training material in line with maintenance needs and ensuring continuous improvement.
- Assist as required with the recovery of defective vehicles and the production of incident reports.
- Provide On-Call support as required and defined by the Maintenance Manager.
- Liaise with the Operator on a regular basis regarding the status of the fleet to ensure maximum possible availability at all times.
- Build positive relationships with drivers and the Operator in order to support a successful fleet operation.
- Assist in the reporting of all vehicle faults and subsequent rectification to enable the monitoring of fleet performance.
2. Testing & Commissioning and Product Introduction
- Perform Static and Dynamic testing on LRVs.
- Perform continuity and insulation testing on vehicles.
- Perform functionality test of equipment on vehicles.
- Responsible to ensure that the assigned tests are performed on vehicles and collate test records and other such documentation for each vehicle logbook as required.
- Liaise with BTA Engineering and BT LRV division to resolve faults.
- Provide accurate fault and diagnostic data/reports to facilitate early resolution of issues.
Key Requirements:
- Relevant trade, certificate, or tertiary qualifications
- Previous experience in vehicle T&C, maintenance, modifications, and reliability growth management desirable.
- Previous experience and understanding of the rail industry and rail vehicles is essential. LRV fleets experience not essential, but desirable.
