Summary:

Sr. Lead Press Operator is responsible to safely operate, set up, and care for the printing press machines “8 Color Press & 10 Color Press and providing guidance and training to other press operators 1st & 2nd shift

Essential Functions:

Under the supervision and direction of the Press Technical Manager, to successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

• Read and follow daily press schedule to meet daily production needs. Legibly and accurately record activities on required documentation and in the daily activities log books.
• Set up and record run condition reports for each job completed.
• Properly and safely use all tools necessary to set up each job as efficiently and with as little waste as possible.
• Read and understand customer order and artwork.
• Track all setup, downtime and run time on the production report by using DCU.
• Accurately scan and process all material usage/consumption (going on and coming off of the machine)
• Run the orders efficiently while maintaining high quality.
• Mark or flag all press stops, splices and misprints during the run and keep an accurate Flag report for each roll.
• Remove and properly dispose of all flying splices and defects on rewind position or master roll.
• Monitor print quality during the run using the auto defect detection system. (AVT & GRAFIKONTROL VISION SYSTEM)
• Inspect and examine printed products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications, and external defects
• Responsible for the cleanliness of the press and the area around the press.
• Report any and all mechanical issue he encounters during the shift.
• Regular attendance is required
• Prepare and direct press assistant in the staging of the next job.
• Coach, mentor, and teach operators to improve Safety, Quality, and Productivity “1st & 2nd shift”
• Understand shop floor metrics 5M ft per week and responsible for the team’s results vs. targets
• Responsible for keeping the speed of the printing presses above standard
• Responsible in maintaining the scrap below 3% for printing presses on 1st & 2nd shift
• Be the first response to safety, quality, and productivity troubleshooting
• Monitor and hold assistant accountable for their responsibilities.
• Actively participate in 5s and audit processes
• Other duties assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• At least 10 + years of wide web flexographic printing experience required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.59 per hour
