Our clients own and operate a large family farming business functioning over a number of properties in the Maranoa and Central Highlands regions of Queensland. This position is based on their 20,000acre cattle finishing property located 25km north east of Roma, QLD.

While no two days will be alike in this role, your primary focus will be assisting the managing owners with the management of 1500hd of Hereford X Santa Gertrudis cattle. This will require a sound knowledge of livestock husbandry practices including but not limited to mustering, general processing and handling, yard work, drafting, marking and vaccinating. This diverse role also offers the opportunity to learn and be involved in fodder cropping for the purposes of supplementary feeding.

Working collaboratively with the farm manager, the successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the fodder cropping and livestock enterprises. You will be required to operate tractors and cropping machinery at times in addition to being heavily involved in all other aspects of the farm i.e. fencing, water maintenance, general improvements, mechanics and infrastructural developments. While experience is preferred, the position would suit someone who:

• Has sound livestock handling knowledge and experience
• Has some cropping and/or pasture development experience
• Is an effective and strong communicator with a positive and ‘can-do’ attitude.
• Is experienced in the operation of farming machinery and GPS equipment
• Has an appropriate understanding of mechanics
• A driver's license and own vehicle for personal use is a must; a HC license is favourable or be willing to obtain
