An opportunity is available to join Hidden Valley Thoroughbreds team as a stud hand.

This position can be part-time or full-time depending on experience and qualifications.

Five days per week. Live-In accommodation is available for the right candidate if required.

Hidden Valley is located in the Lower Hunter Valley, 45 minutes from Newcastle and 2 hours from Sydney.

Hidden Valley's stud hands are responsible for the routine care of broodmares, foals, weanlings, yearlings and spellers. The role involves feeding, grooming and treatments, assisting the vet, farrier and dentist and preparing and presenting horses for sale and client visits.

Our small team of stud staff also assist with general stable duties and some general farm work.

The successful applicant will:

• Have a sound and practical understanding of horse handling and care
• High level of horse husbandry skills and experience
• Previous experience working with Thoroughbred horses including mares, foals, weanlings and yearlings.
• Be reliable and diligent
• Be able to work effectively and efficiently both unsupervised and in a team environment
• Have a current drivers license and own reliable vehicle
