Position Information

The Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Education is a unique institution in the NSW educational landscape. The CoE will deliver AgSTEM programs to 150 Richmond Agricultural College students in 2023, with a full capacity of students up to 600 college students when at full operation. It will also host students and teachers from across NSW. The Centre currently operates from TAFE/WSU facilities on the Hawkesbury campus and in 2023 will move into our purpose built facility on the campus. The new facility will consist of a school, operational farm, short stay residential facility and conference facility. The Centre delivers high quality, transdisciplinary AgSTEM programs, utilising design thinking and partnered learning experiences, to students K-12 across NSW and a specialised secondary curriculum to the AgSTEM specialty and selective streams of Richmond Agricultural College. The Centre is also responsible for the delivery of teacher professional learning across NSW. The programs developed by the Centre are focused on the pillarsof Agriculture, STEM, Sustainability, Aboriginal Knowledges and Transition Pathways. The Centre works in partnership with Western Sydney University, TAFE, industry and community. As a campus of Richmond Agricultural College AgSTEM specialist and selective students spend 60% of their week at the Centre. Students follow NESA prescribed hours, content and outcomes in a pattern of study delivered in a transdisciplinary model.

Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach careers or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in the Careers Adviser qualifications approved by the New South Wales Department of Education (Refer special note below).
• Demonstrated capacity to deliver innovative and engaging teaching and learning programs K-10 linked to careers and transition education in a transdisciplinary learning environment.
• Demonstrated capacity to partner with parents, students and the broader educational sector and industry, to ensure up to date and innovate careers and transition opportunities for AgSTEM students.
• High level communication and administrative skills to support the processes of accreditation and transition pathways for Stages 5 and 6 AgSTEM students.
• Proven capacity to work effectively as a team member in an integrated transdisciplinary learning environment.
