TPWD MISSION

To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Infrastructure Division provides design and construction project management expertise for the repair and development of all built-environment facilities for the TPWD. Under the direction of the Design Branch Manager within the Infrastructure Division, the Architectural Internship position is an opportunity work with practicing professional architects and engineers to offer meaningful and real-world contributions to the conservation mission of TPWD through sensitive design. Architectural Intern will work closely with Design Branch staff. The Architectural Intern will be expected to produce tangible, professional work products, not simply perform menial tasks. This position is responsible for performing a range of tasks to learn various aspects of architectural design, program implementation and coordination. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures. Performs additional duties as assigned. Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university or recent graduate within the last 6 months.

Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application.

Must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or "Pass" on a Pass/Fail system.

Experience:

None Required.

Licensure:

If driving is required, applicant must possess a valid State driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

Some experience working in an office.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of design processes;

Skill in effective verbal and written communication;

Skill in using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point;

Skill in working as a team member;

Skill in AutoCAD, Sketch-up or other 3-D modeling program, graphics (Adobe Suites or other);

Ability to prioritize, categorize, and assemble documents;

Ability to communicate effectively with team members and the public;

Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Internship duration and work week schedule to be mutually determined by supervisor and intern;

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures;

Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
